Warning:

In the following article by no means, I am writing as an expert on the subject. For accurate information on this subject please contact the proper authorities.

Most of you must have seen the mini-series based on real events – Banged up abroad and Locked up abroad which are telecasted on National Geographic and can be easily be seen on YouTube as well.

Banged up abroad.

In most of the cases, the convict is drawn towards what they are doing but in some series, there are people who got arrested without their knowing. As I get into this subject it is very huge, messy and clarity is missing. One thing I got to realize is every country has their own chart of narcotics. For example, if Alprazolam tablets fall in Schedule IV in Nepal, it falls under Psychotropic Substances in India.https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/news/india/kolkata-narcotics-control-bureau-seizes-drugs-worth-almost-rs-15-lakh-arrests-2/articleshow/65981800.cms

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING WITH FULL ATTENTION

Every medication is designed to cure some sort of illness, if taken in proper doses it won’t do any harm. The problem comes when people misuse them for various reasons and take more doses than prescribed- euphoric feeling, confidence-boosting, feeling of depression or anxiety as if no more and many more.

The Government of Nepal has grouped these substances into two categories. By no means, if someone near, dear or unknown handles you this DO NOT TAKE OR CARRY IT WITHOUT PRESCRIPTION. First of all without a proper prescription from the doctor no medical store will provide you with these. If you ever have to handle the following medicines MAKE SURE YOU ARE CARRYING THE PROPER PRESCRIPTION WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT TO THE UPDATED DATE. If you are questioned at the checkpoint by the authorities make sure you have the answer and the RIGHT JUSTIFICATION. If not there are chances you might land in jail.

Defination of Narcotics

Narcotics fall under two categories for the definition, one being under the law and the other for medical benefits. Narcotics is derived from the Greek word narkotikos, which means being sluggish or lethargic. Narcotics can be highly addictive if misused.

They have a good potential of reducing pain, but it alters mood and behaviour and later usually induces sleep or stupor (Stupor is the lack of critical mental function and a level of consciousness, in which an affected person is almost entirely unresponsive and responds only to intense stimuli such as pain. The word derives from the Latin stupor -“numbness, insensibility”.Normally to sum it up natural or synthetic narcotics are used as medicine to control pain.

Defination of Psychotropic Substance

Psychotropic drugs are any drug that has primary effects on behaviour, experience or other psychological functions. It can also be defined as a chemical that affects the brain and nervous system, after feeling and emotions. They also affect consciousness in various ways. Most are meant to treat emotional and mental illness.

From a medical point of view according to my understanding Psychotropic drugs are. designated chemical substances that act upon the mind, that is on the conscious or unconscious mental life of an individual.

Schedule III drugs or substances or chemicals are categorized as drugs with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence. Apart from the above-mentioned medicines, some other examples of psychotropic substances in schedule III include alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, marijuana and certain pain medicines which can be obtained over the counter.

Many illegal drugs such as Heroin, LSD, Cocaine and Amphetamines also fall under psychotropic substances and are also called psychoactive substances. This information is just an extra as most of us know what are these.

A word of advice

Medications are all designed to treat us, human beings. They are meant to cure us and take our pain away. Pain either physical or mental is such a thing that if removed as a virus it makes our lives so productive and positive. Medical professionals are qualified to find the problem and they prescribe us certain medication so that we can be cured.

The above-listed list of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances can be altered accordingly, so you can find further information on Narcotics Control Bureau, so stay updated.

Lastly, to all be very careful while handling the above-mentioned medication and to medical professionals -one size doesn’t fit all. The person stung with the cobra will understand what type of pain and misery he goes through, death is on his thoughts. If he survives he knows the experience of being bitten by a deathly creature.
