The Breed

If you are looking for a workaholic dog then this sums up everything. It was actually bred in the hills of the Scottish and Welsh border. This dog was developed in the 1970s and it had received much recognition. This is an Einstein among the dogs. They are obedient, good at agility, excellent at flyball, they are brilliant at the search and rescue team, and can be a great sniffer dogs.

They need the commitment of time and attention. They are in need of plenty of stimulation, exercise, and work. If you fulfill these for them they become loyal, affectionate, highly responsive,q and a very very rewarding companion.

Champion Herderes

Border Collies were originally bred to herd sheep. They excel at the task because of their strength, stamina, intelligence, and work ethic. Border Collies are famous for using “the eye”— staring intensely at members of the flock to intimidate them. When the earliest recorded sheepdog trial took place at Bala, Wales, in 1873, the crowd was astonished that the Border Collies were able to herd sheep into a small pen, guided only by hand signals and whistles from their owners.

Eligability rather than remorse later

Since this is a highly active breed, so it is not suitable for apartments or small houses. They are very workaholics and they constantly need mental and physical activity, if he is not kept in that shape you will have a very highly frustrated dog and frustration leads to lots of things that you do not want.

These breeds are not for a lazy house owner or a couch potato and even for the couple who go to work in the morning and show up only in the evening. After that, they might think a walk for half an hour should be enough but that is not the case with this breed. You will just be destroying his mental state of health to physical.

These types of dogs are happier in the countryside, where there are hills, streams of water, and beautiful landscapes.

Bad points

They are very demanding and they need something to do or else they become destructive. Patience is not in their genes

They are keen and alert, very responsive, highly intelligent, very sensitive, loyal and faithful, energetic, and are a very good watchdog

Types of Border Collie

The most basic types and the common one is black and white. It’s rare for the Border Collie to have one solid color, but they usually are bicolor, tricolor, sable, with merle, tickled, or in speckled patterns. Some of this breed also comes in seal, slate, and gold.

These are red merle Borders and they have the red and white color as a base and the pattern that breaks up the color.

Some Borders would be mostly white with red, brown, or cinnamon patches all over their bodies. They also have a liver-colored nose.

By the way, if you are planning to have this in Nepal or even in Kathmandu, I personally think it’s a bad idea. First of all, you will have difficulty in having the pure breed and even you get one the needs of this is so much that our capital is not enough for it. If you have a farmhouse or a village that is your ancestor’s home and if they have pets and do not mind having a dog then it might work. Just make sure the breed is pure or else you will just make fun out of it.

If you want to breed Border Collies, make sure that you follow standards and consider the dog’s health, not just getting the color you want.
